Rather than venturing back to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving, I decided to jump in the car with a few friends and head up to the Northeast. I started in South Jersey, then headed up to Hartford, Connecticut, went back down to Fairfield, Connecticut, and finished the trip in New York City. Along the way I was able to meet up with Jack, a best friend since second grade. In his town, Glastonbury, I saw the most beautiful fall colors I'd seen in four years. Reds and oranges lit up the world every day at 5pm when the sun set. We walked through the woods each day, breathed fresh air, and talked about everything we'd missed in each other's lives for hours. Some things never change even over so many years of being separated. Soul mate friends seem to always grow and change in the same ways you do.
There were two Thanksgiving feasts with two different families before going to New York. I met so many of my friends' family members and took so many different trains across three different states that there would be some moments I would forget exactly where I was. When we went to New York we planned two of the busiest days filled with getting fabric for our collections, attending the David Zwirner Gallery, and had our fair share of amazing meals and drinks with new and old friends. I got quality time with some of my favorite people while also having time to reflect on the past quarter and mentally prepare for the next round of work.
Thanks for the memories- here are some highlights.
