It’s 12:35am and I’m sitting on my neatly made bed scrolling through speeches about toilets. Olivia is sitting on the floor working away at perfecting her process book for Color Theory. Normal pre-finals week atmosphere… except the door is open. Even though there is an influx of horrible scents form the sewage treatment plant next door, it’s still 70 degrees outside.
Today I experienced something I haven’t experienced in my entire life: an 80 degree day in early March. This sounds like such a small thing to be so fascinated by, but it was absolutely beautiful. To hear birds singing peacefully in the trees, people gearing up for runs, and high waisted hipster shorts…in early March? It was totally foreign to me.
My skin doesn’t crack and my legs get an early tan because of days like today. I was able to run without making sure every square inch of my face was covered with fleece. Girls spent extra time on choosing their outfits because they got to choose from their summer wardrobe. And nobody was tired. 80 degrees comes around in May in Wisconsin, yet I was lucky enough to walk outside in a dress today and feel the sunshine against my skin. I felt recharged and motivated to slay my finals.
The door is open at 12:35am and I’m still coming down from my weather high.
